Blades of glory (or terror)
Decided today was the day Carmen and I would finally try ice skating. She’s been talking about it for weeks and I kept making excuses because honestly? The whole concept of balancing on thin metal blades while moving across frozen water seemed like a recipe for disaster.

Blades of glory (or terror)
Turns out my instincts were totally right. Carmen stepped onto that ice like she’d been doing it her whole life - graceful, confident, making these smooth little turns while I’m literally death-gripping the wall like it’s going to save me from certain doom. The rink guy kept skating by offering “helpful” tips but I’m pretty sure he was just enjoying watching me flail.

Guess who’s clinging to the wall like her life depends on it
By the end Carmen was doing these little spins (SPINS!) while I managed to let go of the wall for maybe thirty seconds at a time. She kept encouraging me but I could tell she was trying not to laugh. Next time we’re sticking to activities that don’t involve sharp objects attached to my feet. Although watching her discover she’s basically a figure skater was pretty amazing.
