Professional shoppers we are not

Sarah texted me this morning asking if I wanted to go to Target for “just laundry detergent and maybe some snacks.” Two hours later we’re standing in aisle twelve having what can only be described as a philosophical debate about whether concentrated formula is worth the extra dollar fifty.

I’m pretty sure we spent more time researching fabric softener than I’ve spent on some of my nursing assignments.

Somehow we also ended up with Halloween candy (it’s October, totally justified), three different kinds of granola bars, a throw pillow that Sarah swears her apartment desperately needs, and some kind of fancy face wash that was on sale. The laundry detergent? Yeah, we forgot to actually pick one after all that analysis.

Cart full of things we definitely didn't come for.

On the drive back Sarah admitted she does this every single time she goes to any store. “I can run a 10K without overthinking it,” she said, “but put me in front of cleaning products and suddenly I need to read every ingredient list twice.” At least I’m not the only one who turns simple errands into full research projects. Now I just need to figure out what I’m actually going to wash my clothes with this week.
