So I finally brought Marcus to game night and now I’m regretting it. Not because it went badly - because it went TOO well.

Jen had already given her approval (she’s known him through Derek forever), but watching Sarah and Katie discover his self-deprecating humor was like watching someone feed cute animals - you know they’re going to want to keep coming back. He made jokes about being terrible at Scrabble and somehow made losing to my friends look charming.

The worst part? He genuinely enjoyed himself. He laughed at their stories, asked good questions, and didn’t do that thing where guys try too hard to impress. Which of course made them like him more. I sat there watching my friend group adopt my boyfriend and thinking ‘oh no, now I have to keep him.’

Next week Jen’s already asking if Marcus is coming again. I created a monster.
