Christmas Disasters and Baby Cravings

👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus

So Marcus decided to surprise me by making his mom’s famous apple pie recipe for Christmas dessert. Sweet gesture, right? Except he somehow managed to make the crust both soggy AND burnt, and I’m pretty sure he confused salt for sugar in at least one step.

Here’s the thing though - I ate three giant pieces anyway. And not just to be supportive (okay, maybe a little to be supportive). The baby apparently has zero standards when it comes to dessert. I’m already blaming all my questionable food choices on this little peanut, and honestly? It’s the best excuse I’ve ever had.

Both our moms have been in full grandma mode since we told them about the pregnancy last month. My mom literally cannot stop touching my barely-there bump every time she sees me, and Patty showed up yesterday with a bag of tiny onesies that made Marcus tear up a little. There’s something magical about Christmas when everything is about to change - even terrible pie tastes like the best thing in the world.

Next year we’re definitely ordering dessert. But this year? This year was perfect in its own messy way.
