RN After My Name

I got my NCLEX results this morning and I may have cried. Happy tears, exhausted tears, proud tears - all of them at once.

Two months ago I was walking across that stage at UNC eight months pregnant, wondering how I was going to pull this off. Now I’m sitting here with Sophie asleep on my Fundamentals textbook (she has excellent taste in nap spots) and official proof that I can do hard things even when life gets complicated.

The studying was… creative. One hand holding flashcards, the other holding a baby. Quiz questions during 3am feedings. Practice tests while she napped on my lap. Marcus kept finding me passed out at the kitchen table with Sophie on my chest and notes scattered everywhere. Not exactly the study environment they prepare you for in school.

But we did it. WE did it - because this little girl gave me a reason to push through every practice exam and every moment I wanted to quit. Now I get to put those letters after my name and start the job I’ve been dreaming about since I was fifteen. First day at Rex is Monday. Sophie’s coming to daycare orientation tomorrow. We’re both ready for this next chapter.
