Unexpected visitor

Sarah came over to help me meal prep for the week ahead — we’ve been trying to get better about actually planning our groceries instead of wandering the aisles hoping for inspiration. We had spreadsheets and everything.

Then this little orange guy showed up on the fire escape outside our kitchen window. Sarah immediately abandoned her cutting board and pressed her nose to the glass like a kid at a pet store. “Elena, look at those little white paws!” The cat seemed completely unbothered by our audience, taking his time with what appeared to be a very thorough grooming session.

We both got completely distracted from lunch prep.

We spent twenty minutes watching him stretch, yawn, and eventually curl up for a nap in the afternoon sun. Our perfectly organized meal prep turned into opening a can of tuna and leaving it on the fire escape — just in case he’s actually a stray and not just someone’s very confident outdoor cat. The spreadsheets are still sitting on the counter, but somehow this felt like a better use of our Tuesday afternoon.
