Ambush birthday

Walked into my own apartment after my anatomy study session to find Carmen, Sarah, and Jake hiding behind the couch like they’re planning a military operation. Apparently my birthday is this week and I’ve been so buried in textbooks I completely forgot to mention it to anyone.

The decorations are… well, let’s call them ‘rustic.’ Jake insisted on making the banner himself, which explains why my name looks like it was written during an earthquake.

Carmen brought enough balloons to lift the building, and Sarah showed up with a chocolate cake that’s definitely not homemade but she’s pretending it is.

I love these people for remembering when I forgot, but next time maybe a heads up? I walked in wearing my rattiest study clothes and haven’t brushed my hair since this morning. At least they got the chocolate cake part right.

Turns out the best surprise parties happen when you’re not trying to impress anyone.
