Night Shift Life

👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus 🎭 Sophie

So I officially survived my first night shift at the hospital. Twelve hours of pediatric chaos, endless charting, and more coffee than should be legal. I kissed a sleeping Sophie goodbye at 6:30pm and headed into what felt like the longest night of my life.

But coming home to this?

Marcus passed out on the couch with our baby girl curled up on his chest like she owns the place (which, let’s be honest, she does). The empty coffee mug tells the whole story - he probably stayed up way too late trying to get her settled after I left.

I’m learning that being a new mom AND a new nurse is like trying to juggle while riding a unicycle. In the dark. With one hand tied behind your back. We’re figuring it out as we go, powered by pure stubbornness and whatever caffeine we can get our hands on. Some days I feel like I’m barely keeping my head above water, but then I see moments like this and remember why we’re doing all of it.

Off to grab about four hours of sleep before Sophie decides she needs her mama again. This is our life now and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
