Resolution Reality Check

👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus 🎭 Sophie

So we’re five days into 2011 and I’m already questioning my life choices. My resolutions seemed so reasonable on January 1st: sleep more (ha), plan this wedding without losing my mind (bigger ha), and be the best nurse/mom/fiancée humanly possible (we’ll see).

Marcus, bless his heart, decided his resolution was to learn how to cook. Not just heat things up or make sandwiches - actually COOK. Today he attempted what the cookbook called “simple pasta with marinara.” I use the word “simple” very loosely here.

There was flour everywhere. Somehow. It’s pasta, not bread, but Marcus found a way.

Sophie and I positioned ourselves at a safe distance to observe this culinary experiment.

She seemed as skeptical as I felt, which is saying something because she’s six months old and her biggest concern is usually when her next bottle is coming.

The final verdict? Edible! Barely seasoned and slightly overcooked, but edible. I’m calling it a win because nobody got food poisoning and he actually cleaned up after himself.

Maybe this resolution thing will work out after all. Though I’m still not holding my breath on the sleeping more part - somebody still wakes up every three hours wanting to eat, and it’s not Marcus.
