One Year
A year ago today, Marcus got down on one knee in our tiny apartment with a ring and a cocktail napkin.

One Year
He’d been so nervous he’d started sketching on it while we talked - just little doodles, nothing fancy. But when he proposed, he handed me both the ring and the napkin, saying “I want you to remember this exactly how it happened.”
Honestly? The napkin was the better gift. Don’t get me wrong, I love my ring (it’s gorgeous and he did good), but that napkin shows who we are. The girl who talks with her hands and the guy who sketches while he thinks. The couple who has the most important conversation of their lives over Chinese takeout on a Tuesday night.
We’re getting married in six months and I still can’t believe it sometimes. This beautiful, chaotic, perfect life we’re building together. Starting with a napkin and a yes.
