This is Marcus attempting his first resolution - cooking more meals for the family. As you can see, he’s multitasking by holding Sophie while stirring something that may or may not be edible. Points for effort, minus points for whatever’s happening in that pan.

Meanwhile, I spent Sunday morning writing out my very ambitious resolutions. “Figure out how to be a wife, mom, and nurse without losing my mind” topped the list, followed by “actually use the gym membership I insisted we needed.” The coffee was necessary fuel for this level of delusion.

And Sophie? Well, her resolution to stop throwing food lasted exactly until breakfast.

But look at us trying to make it work anyway! Marcus’s pancakes were… an experience. The smoke alarm went off twice. Sophie clapped and threw more food. I ate them anyway because that’s what good wives do, right?

Here’s to 2012 and all the ways we’ll probably fail at our best intentions. At least we’ll fail together.
