Crown Jewels
Sophie came home from daycare yesterday with a construction paper crown covered in glitter and crooked heart stickers. “For you, Mommy!” she announced, carefully placing it on my head like I was being coronated at Westminster Abbey.

Crown Jewels
I wore that crown for the entire day. Through grocery shopping (yes, I got looks). Through dinner prep (Marcus kept trying not to laugh). Through Sophie’s bath time and bedtime stories. Because when your two-year-old makes you a crown, you ARE royalty. End of discussion.
Marcus kept following me around with the camera, documenting my royal duties. “You realize you look ridiculous,” he said, grinning. “I look MAGNIFICENT,” I corrected him. “There’s a difference.” The crown is now hanging on the refrigerator next to Sophie’s other masterpieces, waiting for the next time Queen Elena needs to make an appearance.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the queens out there wearing construction paper crowns and loving every minute of it.
