Theory meets reality
Alex knocked on our door around 2pm with his anatomy textbook and what he called “a breakthrough understanding of muscle fiber composition.” Twenty minutes later, I’m sitting on my yoga mat while he explains why Type I and Type II muscle fibers respond differently to endurance training.

Theory meets reality
Apparently my Tuesday night yoga sessions have been a practical demonstration of muscle memory and flexibility adaptation this whole time. Who knew? Alex is taking notes like I’m some kind of case study, which is both flattering and slightly concerning.

Teaching Alex that flexibility and anatomy textbooks don’t always match up.
The best part was when he tried to replicate one of my stretches and discovered that understanding the science behind flexibility doesn’t automatically make you flexible. Jake walked in just as Alex was stuck in what was supposed to be a simple hamstring stretch, looking like he’d been defeated by his own textbook.
Sometimes the most effective study sessions happen when you stop trying to memorize diagrams and start connecting the dots between what you know and what you can actually do. Even if it means your study partner ends up sprawled on your living room floor questioning his life choices.
