Princess for a Day

🎭 Sophie 👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus

Sophie woke up this morning and announced that she was going to be Rapunzel for her fourth birthday. Not just any princess - specifically Rapunzel. I spent three hours last night trying to make a costume that wouldn’t fall apart after five minutes of Sophie being Sophie.

The seams are slightly crooked and the trim is probably going to come off by dinnertime, but when I saw her face light up when she put it on, I knew all those late-night sewing moments were worth it.

She’s been twirling nonstop since she got dressed. Literally nonstop. I counted - she did seventeen consecutive twirls before getting dizzy and falling down in the middle of the kitchen.

She fell down mid-twirl and immediately got back up for more. This is my daughter.

She fell down mid-twirl and immediately got back up for more. This is my daughter.

Did she cry? Did she give up? Absolutely not. She popped right back up, adjusted her tiara, and started twirling again. “I’m practicing my princess moves, Mommy!”

Marcus keeps asking if I think the costume will survive until her party this afternoon. I told him it doesn’t matter - she’s already had the perfect birthday morning just being a princess in our kitchen. Four years old and she already knows exactly who she wants to be. My girl.
