Coffee shop sociology
Sarah came over with every highlighter known to humanity and her entire anatomy textbook collection. We had the best intentions - really. Set everything up on the coffee table, made iced tea, even put our phones in the kitchen so we wouldn’t get distracted.

Coffee shop sociology
Then she started telling me about this conversation she overheard at The Grind yesterday. Two girls at the table next to her were having this intense debate about whether it’s worse to be the person who gets dumped or the person who has to do the dumping. Sarah was trying to study for her physiology exam but couldn’t stop listening because they kept getting more dramatic about it.

Study session turned gossip session in about thirty seconds
We spent the next hour analyzing their entire relationship philosophy based on thirty minutes of eavesdropped conversation. Sarah does these perfect impressions of people’s voices and had me dying laughing. By the time we remembered we were supposed to be studying, it was almost dinner time. Sometimes I think we learn more about human nature from random coffee shop conversations than we do from all our textbooks combined.
