Okay, technically it was planned. Sort of. We talked about it in that vague “someday soon” way that couples do, but I wasn’t expecting the universe to take notes so literally. Two pink lines on a Tuesday morning will really reorganize your priorities.

I told Marcus first, obviously. Slid the test across the kitchen counter like it was a restaurant check. He looked at it, looked at me, looked at it again, and then just started crying. Happy crying, thankfully, but still. I married a man who cries at pregnancy tests and I’m not mad about it.

Telling Sophie was… an adventure. She asked if she could name the baby Sparkle. When we said we’d “consider it,” she immediately started planning Sparkle’s nursery theme (unicorns, obviously) and which toys they could share. I love her confidence in assuming this baby wants to share anything with a four-year-old who thinks glitter is a food group.
