Small gestures, big hearts
Carmen showed up this afternoon with a tupperware container full of her grandmother’s snickerdoodles and an idea. Mrs. Patterson from 4B had her knee surgery yesterday, and Carmen thought we should put together a little care package.

Small gestures, big hearts
Turns out Carmen had already picked up a small succulent from the farmer’s market this morning, and I had some leftover card stock from my study materials. Twenty minutes later we had assembled the perfect ‘hope you’re healing well’ basket. The cookies smelled amazing, the plant was adorable, and my handwriting on the card was only slightly crooked.

Ready to deliver some neighborly love
Mrs. Patterson teared up when we knocked on her door. She’d been dreading the recovery week, worried about feeling isolated while her daughter was out of town. We ended up staying for tea and hearing stories about her late husband’s woodworking shop. Sometimes the smallest gestures create the biggest connections.
Carmen walked back downstairs with me afterward, both of us a little quieter than usual. There’s something about witnessing someone’s gratitude that makes you remember how simple it can be to matter in someone’s day.
