Three o’clock on a Tuesday and the courtyard below our apartment has turned into dinner theater. Woman in 2B is having what appears to be a full relationship breakdown via phone call while simultaneously trying to load laundry into her car. The dramatic arm gestures. The dropping of clean clothes onto asphalt. The picking them back up while still yelling into her phone.

I should probably feel bad about watching this unfold, but Jake’s at work and I’ve been staring at the same nursing textbook chapter for two hours. Sometimes the universe provides exactly the distraction you didn’t know you needed.

She just slammed her car door so hard the neighbor’s wind chimes three balconies over started dancing. Now she’s marching back inside, phone still pressed to her ear, leaving a trail of what looks like socks across the courtyard. I’m genuinely invested in how this ends.

Update: She came back out with a broom. This woman has commitment.
