The Best Kind of Mother's Day

I woke up this morning to Sophie tiptoeing into our room with a construction paper card covered in glitter (so much glitter) and Theo trailing behind with what I think was supposed to be a flower but looked more like a very happy dinosaur.

They were so proud of their creations, standing there in their pajamas explaining every crayon mark and sticker placement. Sophie’s card had a poem about how I’m “the best mom in the galaxy” (clearly she’s been listening when Theo talks about space), and Theo’s had his handprint in purple paint with “I LUV MOM” written in his careful two-year-old scrawl.

Some days this job feels impossible — the tantrums, the sleepless nights, the constant feeling like I’m not doing enough. But then there are moments like this, sitting in our kitchen with these two incredible little humans who think I hung the moon, and everything makes perfect sense. My kids make every hard thing worth it.
