Market research
Carmen convinced me we needed to hit the farmer’s market this morning because she read somewhere that September is peak season for everything good. What she failed to mention was that we’d be there at 7am competing with actual farmers and people who know what they’re doing.

Market research
Twenty minutes of wandering around looking lost, and this is what Carmen walks away with. The vendor saw her coming from a mile away - probably thought she was buying it for a doll house. She paid three dollars for what I’m pretty sure is a pickle that gave up halfway through.

Market haul reality check
The rest of our haul was more successful, though I’m not entirely sure what we’re going to do with four pounds of butternut squash. Carmen has big plans involving roasting and freezing, but I’ve seen her meal prep ambitions before. Jake’s going to walk into the kitchen tomorrow and find me making butternut squash smoothies just to use it up.
Next time we’re sleeping in and hitting the grocery store like normal people. Though I have to admit, Carmen’s tiny zucchini is going to make a great conversation starter at dinner tonight.
