Carmen’s text came in at 6:17: “Want to drive to the coast? Leaving in an hour.” No context, no plan, just pure spontaneity calling.

Twenty minutes later I’m throwing everything I might possibly need into my backpack - water, snacks, layers, phone charger, because you never know. Jake’s making coffee and shaking his head at my inability to pack light for anything, even a mystery day trip.

Ready for whatever today brings

But honestly? This is exactly what I needed. Sometimes the best days start with absolutely zero planning and someone brave enough to text you before sunrise with an adventure.

We ended up at this tiny coastal town I’d never heard of, spent the whole day walking tide pools and eating fish tacos from a place that definitely wasn’t on Yelp. Got home sunburned and sandy and completely recharged. Carmen’s spontaneous streak might be my new favorite thing.
