Sarah knocked at 5:58am sharp because she’s the kind of person who shows up exactly when she says she will, even for ungodly early yoga sessions. I answered the door wearing yesterday’s sweatshirt and what I’m generously calling ‘bedhead chic.’

Turns out there’s a big difference between agreeing to morning yoga when you’re feeling motivated at 9pm and actually rolling out a mat when your alarm goes off in the dark. Sarah took one look at me and said, ‘Should we just do coffee instead?’ But honestly, I needed the movement more than the caffeine.
We made it through about twenty minutes of poses before giving up on any pretense of proper form and just sitting cross-legged, talking through the things that kept us both up too late.

Attempting meditation when your brain is still half asleep.
Sometimes the best part of a workout isn’t the workout at all.
