Digital discovery mode

Jake got his first iPhone last week. Today he discovered AirDrop. I’ve received seventeen photos in the past hour including: his coffee mug, the ceiling fan, his own reflection, and a very artistic shot of our refrigerator handle.

The concentration on his face is the same one he gets when he’s trying to figure out a particularly tricky guitar chord. Pure focus. I tried to explain that he could just… walk over and show me things the old-fashioned way, but where’s the fun in that?

Success! And yes, he sent me a photo of his own foot.

Twenty minutes later he successfully sent me a photo from across the room and acted like he’d just invented fire. The photo? His left foot. But hey, we all have our victories.

Now he’s muttering about “discovering what else this thing can do.” I’m hiding my phone.
