Jake decided this morning that boxed pancake mix is “basically cheating” and he was going to make them completely from scratch. No recipe consultation. No measuring cups. Just pure engineering confidence meeting flour and eggs.

Twenty minutes later, our kitchen looked like a flour bomb went off and he’d created what can only be described as abstract art. The first pancake came out shaped like Florida. The second one defied all known laws of physics.
