Mission creep and trail mix
Started what should have been simple Saturday morning planning for a quick local hike. Keyword: should have been.

Mission creep and trail mix
Somehow between “let’s check out that trail Sarah mentioned” and “maybe we should bring backup snacks,” I’ve managed to spread enough supplies across our living room floor to summit Everest. Jake found me at 7am surrounded by three different trail maps, two guidebooks, enough granola bars to feed a small village, and what appears to be every water bottle we own.

The exact moment I realized I packed for a three-day expedition instead of a four-hour hike
The moment of reckoning came when I held up the trail map and realized I’d been planning provisions for the Appalachian Trail instead of the two-mile loop that’s literally twenty minutes from our apartment. In my defense, it’s very important to be prepared. Also in my defense, it’s way too early for this level of logical thinking.
Jake just handed me coffee and gently suggested maybe we start with one water bottle per person. Revolutionary concept, honestly.
