The art of going alone

👩‍⚕️ Elena

Drove up to that little mountain town about an hour north this morning. No plan, no agenda, just me and whatever the day wanted to offer.

The art of going alone

Something about being completely alone in a new place always teaches me things I didn’t know I needed to learn.

Wandered through their tiny downtown, had coffee at a place where the barista knew everyone’s order by heart, sat by the creek for longer than I intended. No rushing, no checking the time, no coordinating with anyone else’s needs or preferences. Just following my own curiosity from one moment to the next.

Processing the day through ink and paper.

Back home now, trying to capture what this day gave me before it fades. There’s something powerful about choosing solitude instead of it being chosen for you. About proving to yourself that you’re enough company for a whole day of exploration. Jake’s out with Alex, and instead of feeling lonely, I’m feeling… complete? Like I went somewhere and found a piece of myself I’d forgotten was missing.

Turns out the best adventures aren’t always about where you go. Sometimes they’re about remembering who you are when no one else is watching.
