There’s something about that post-workout glow that no filter can replicate. Six in the morning, twenty minutes of yoga and bodyweight circuits in the living room, and somehow I look more awake than I have all week.

Jake wandered in while I was doing the whole lip balm situation, probably wondering why anyone voluntarily gets up this early on a Friday. Fair question. The answer is that I’ve become one of those people who actually craves the quiet before the world wakes up. Also, evening workouts were making me too wired to sleep, which was not helping anyone’s quality of life.

The post-workout glow is real

The December darkness makes it feel later than it is, but there’s something satisfying about having already moved my body before most people have had their first cup of coffee. Plus, the apartment stays cooler in the morning, which means I can actually push through a decent workout without overheating our chronically inconsistent heating system.

Now for the real challenge: staying this energized through a full Friday shift. The day nurses are going to wonder what I’m on.
