The Carmen Challenge

Carmen walked into our apartment this morning with that look. The one that means she’s discovered some new torture disguised as fitness and wants to share the joy. “I found this amazing HIIT routine,” she said, already changing into her workout clothes. Famous last words.

Twenty minutes in and I’m questioning every life choice that led to this moment. Carmen’s over there making burpees look graceful while I’m sprawled on my yoga mat wondering if this counts as cardio if my heart rate is elevated purely from panic. The woman doesn’t even look winded.

Recovery versus demonstration of proper form

I love that we work out together, but sometimes I think Carmen forgets that not all of us were blessed with her superhuman endurance. Jake’s been watching from the kitchen, probably debating whether to offer encouragement or call 911. Smart man is staying quiet.
