Michelle showed up at eight this morning looking like she just walked off the cover of Fitness Magazine - matching set, perfect ponytail, not a wrinkle in sight. Meanwhile I answered the door in yesterday’s leggings and what Jake diplomatically calls my ‘weekend hoodie’ but is really just the first thing I grabbed off the floor.

The woman has been my client for four years and somehow still manages to look more put-together arriving for our sessions than I do when I’m supposedly the one running them. I keep telling myself it’s because she has more time to get ready, but let’s be honest - Michelle probably rolls out of bed looking coordinated.

Twenty minutes later I’m still hunting for a hair tie that isn’t completely stretched out while she sits there patiently checking her phone like this is totally normal. Which, knowing me, it probably is. At least the workout will be good - nothing motivates like mild embarrassment about your life choices.

Jake made coffee for both of us before he left, so I’m calling this a win. Low bar? Maybe. But I’m meeting it.
