Carmen showed up with three library books about Greek mythology and that particular energy she gets when she’s discovered something fascinating. Within ten minutes she’s explaining why Persephone’s story is actually about seasonal depression and ancient agricultural cycles.

I love watching her mind work through these connections—she’ll read a passage, pause, then launch into this whole theory about how it relates to modern psychology or climate patterns. Today’s revelation involved Demeter, winter solstice traditions, and something about vitamin D deficiency that honestly made way more sense than it should have.

She found this quote about winter being a necessary pause before renewal and got so excited she nearly spilled her coffee. Jake walked through earlier, heard her explaining the difference between Hades and Pluto, and just quietly refilled her mug. Smart man.

Now she’s onto Roman adaptations versus Greek originals and I’m wondering if I should start taking notes. This is better than any documentary.
