Christmas morning chaos

Six adults tearing into presents like we’re still eight years old. Carmen brought homemade cookies that disappeared before the first gift got opened, Sarah showed up with coffee that’s keeping us all functional, and somehow we managed to fit everyone in our living room without anyone sitting on Jake’s desk chair.

The rules were simple - nothing expensive, something thoughtful or funny. Michelle found me a book about herbs that has actual growing charts I can use for our balcony garden. Alex got Jake guitar picks with little dinosaurs on them because apparently that’s a thing now. Sarah gave Carmen running socks with tacos printed on them and I’ve never seen anyone more excited about foot apparel.

We’re supposed to be adults but Jake just built a fort out of empty boxes and Carmen’s already planning next year’s gift themes. The apartment smells like cinnamon from the candle Sarah lit and everyone’s talking over each other in the best possible way. This is exactly what Christmas morning should feel like.
