Christmas Morning Pancakes

👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus 🎭 Sophie 🦕 Theo

Christmas feels different this year — lighter, brighter. Maybe it’s because Sophie’s old enough to actually help with decorating instead of just relocating ornaments to toddler height. Maybe it’s because Theo can walk now and chase Biscuit around the tree. Maybe it’s because Marcus and I are finally in a good rhythm again. Whatever it is, I’ll take it.

Christmas Morning Pancakes

This morning started at 5 AM when Sophie appeared at our bedside like a Christmas ghost, whispering “Is it time yet?” with the intensity of someone planning a heist. By 6 AM, Theo had joined the revolution, and by 6:30, even Marcus admitted defeat and stumbled to the kitchen to make his famous (only on Christmas) pancakes. The man who burns toast somehow transforms into a breakfast wizard once a year.

The pancake aftermath. Worth it.

The pancake aftermath. Worth it.

The kids ate like they’d been fasting for weeks, syrup everywhere, Christmas pajamas already requiring a wash before noon. Sophie kept bouncing in her seat talking about the presents under the tree, and Theo just kept saying “pancake” and “dinosaur” in various combinations like they were related concepts. This Christmas feels like the beginning of something instead of the end of something. More laughter, less stress. More pancakes, more mess, more everything that matters.
