Last week was absolutely brutal - I burned myself on the steam wand like three times, spilled espresso everywhere, and don’t even get me started on the disaster that was my first attempt at a cappuccino. I was seriously considering quitting after that lady yelled at me for taking too long with her order.

But this week has been SO much better!

Learning the art of perfect milk foam

I’m finally getting the hang of steaming milk without creating a foam explosion, and today I made my first semi-decent latte art! Okay fine, it looked more like a sad cloud than a heart, but my coworker Jake said it was way better than his first attempts. The morning rush is still crazy hectic, but I’m not panicking anymore when five people order complicated drinks all at once.

The best part is definitely my coworkers - they’re all super chill and actually make the early morning shifts bearable. Plus Jake promised to teach me how to make those fancy layered drinks that look so pretty on Instagram. Who knows, maybe by the end of the semester I’ll be one of those cool baristas who can do rosette designs! For now though, I’m just happy I can make it through a shift without any major disasters.
