Network building 101

👩‍⚕️ Elena

Sitting here staring at my laptop screen for twenty minutes before finally hitting send. Five different emails to classmates from my Advanced Pathophysiology course, basically saying ‘hey, want to study together sometime?’ in the most casual way possible.

It’s weird how hard it is to reach out sometimes. These are people I sit next to three times a week, people who’ve borrowed my highlighters and shared their coffee when the vending machine ate my dollar. But asking to actually hang out outside of class? That felt like a bigger step than it probably should have.

Turns out I was overthinking it completely. Already got three responses back, and everyone seems genuinely excited about the idea. Sarah from my clinical rotation group suggested we meet at the library on Thursday afternoons, and Marcus mentioned he has access to practice exam questions through his work-study job at the nursing department.

Emails sent. Deep breath time.

Maybe this whole ‘making new connections’ thing doesn’t have to be as complicated as I made it in my head. Sometimes you just have to type the email and press send.
