Crisis management style revealed
Jake brought me coffee this morning without being asked, and it hit me how much that simple gesture captured what I learned about us during the whole heating nightmare.

Crisis management style revealed
For three weeks we dealt with a temperamental heating system that would randomly decide to either blast us with tropical heat or leave us shivering at 2am. I expected it to be stressful - and it was - but what surprised me was how we each instinctively fell into roles that actually complemented each other. I became the researcher and problem-solver, diving into HVAC forums and calling repair companies. Jake became the buffer and the comfort coordinator, making sure we had extra blankets ready and keeping track of which space heaters were where.
There were moments when I got frustrated with his laid-back approach to what felt like an urgent problem. And I know there were times when my need to immediately fix everything probably stressed him out. But by the time our landlord finally got the system properly repaired last week, I realized we’d figured out something important about how we handle domestic crises together.

We’re different in our approaches, but we’re not competing - we’re covering different bases. I handle the logistics and he handles the humanity of it all. Not a bad team, honestly.
