Found Jake’s emergency heating protocol notes tucked inside my anatomy textbook this morning. Apparently when our heat went out in February, his response was to create a color-coded action plan with timestamps and backup scenarios. My response was to pile every blanket we owned in the living room and declare it our new civilization.

Been thinking about what that whole crisis actually revealed about how we function together. He approaches problems like an engineer – methodical, documented, with contingency plans for the contingency plans. I approach them like… well, like someone who believes the right combination of determination and extra socks can solve most things.

His emergency protocol notes are still more organized than my actual filing system.

His emergency protocol notes are still more organized than my actual filing system.

The weird part is how well it worked. His systematic approach kept us from actually freezing, and my “let’s just make this cozy” attitude kept us from losing our minds during three days of repair delays. Turns out we’re better at this domestic problem-solving thing than either of us realized. Even if I’m still finding his labeled tool inventory lists in random places around the apartment.
