Who knew that one red sock could turn an entire load of white clothes into various shades of pink? My favorite white t-shirt now looks like it went through a cotton candy machine.

Mom tried to explain the whole whites-and-colors thing when I left for college, but I thought she was just being overly cautious. Turns out she wasn’t being paranoid – she was being experienced.

I’m now the proud owner of several pink towels, a rose-colored sports bra, and what used to be white socks that are now the color of bubble gum.

Called Carmen for emergency laundry advice and she just laughed. Apparently this is a rite of passage that everyone goes through at least once. She suggested trying some color-removal stuff from the store, but honestly? I might just embrace my new pink wardrobe. At least until I can afford to replace everything.
