The Word That Changed Everything
I was standing in the kitchen this morning, making coffee and trying to convince myself I was awake enough to function on four hours of sleep. Sophie was in her bouncy seat on the counter, babbling away like she always does, and I was making those ridiculous mommy noises back at her because apparently that’s who I am now.
And then she looked right at me, clear as day, and said “Mama.”
I’m not talking about the random syllables babies make that we convince ourselves are words. This was deliberate. She was looking at ME, and she said MY word.

The Word That Changed Everything
I picked her up and just lost it. Full ugly cry while she stared at me like I’d lost my mind, which honestly, I had.
Seven months old and she already has me completely wrapped around her tiny finger. Marcus came running because he thought something was wrong and found me sobbing happy tears while Sophie just looked pleased with herself. She knew exactly what she’d done. This kid is going to be trouble, and I couldn’t be more proud.
