Mom called right after dinner and somehow three hours just disappeared.

Started out catching up on the usual stuff - work drama, neighbor gossip, what she’s making for Dad’s birthday next week. But then we got into one of those conversations where you’re both just talking to hear each other’s voices, you know?

The hand gestures are totally necessary even when she can’t see them.

She told me about the new coffee shop that opened where the old bookstore used to be, and I could picture exactly where she meant. Made me realize how much I miss knowing every corner of a place, having that kind of mental map built up over years.

Jake keeps walking by and mouthing “are you okay?” because apparently I get this certain look when I’m homesick. Not sad exactly, just… aware of the distance. Three hours on the phone and I still feel like I could talk for three more. Some conversations are like that.
