Party planning reality check
Carmen’s engagement party was supposed to be “just a few friends over for champagne.” Somehow that turned into twenty-three people, three bottles of prosecco, homemade appetizers, and confetti that I’m pretty sure will be embedded in our carpet until we move out.

Party planning reality check
The weird thing is, Jake and I fell into this perfect rhythm once everyone arrived. He handled drinks and music while I managed food and kept conversations flowing between people who’d never met. When Carmen’s college roommate spilled wine on the couch, we just looked at each other and started laughing instead of panicking.
Cleanup took two hours, but honestly?

Teamwork makes the dream work
We make a pretty good team. Jake scrubbed champagne out of the kitchen while I tackled the living room disaster. No arguments about who should do what, no passive-aggressive dish duty. Just both of us wanting our space back to normal.
Carmen texted this morning saying it was exactly the celebration she wanted - low-key but special. I think we might actually be getting the hang of this whole domestic partnership thing.
