Treasure hunting

Jake thought I was crazy when I dragged him out at 8am to hit the neighborhood yard sales, but look what I scored!

Three dollars got me this gorgeous 1960s Betty Crocker cookbook with all the original recipe cards still tucked inside. Plus a set of those heavy ceramic mixing bowls I’ve been wanting forever, and some vintage glass canning jars that are perfect for storing my protein powder.

The best part was this elderly woman at the third house who saw me flipping through the cookbook and spent twenty minutes telling me stories about each recipe. Apparently the lemon bars on page 47 were her late husband’s favorite, and she made them every Sunday for forty-three years.

Now I’m standing here organizing everything and already planning which recipes to try first.

Jake’s converted now too - he found a vintage Polaroid camera that actually works and spent the rest of the morning taking test shots around the apartment. Sometimes the best Saturday adventures are the ones that start in your own neighborhood.
