Resolution Revolution (Toddler Edition)

👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus 🎭 Sophie

So we’re eight days into 2013 and I finally sat down to write out my resolutions. Key word: tried to sit down. Sophie had other plans.

The moment I pulled out my notebook, she dragged her little stool over and announced she was “helping.” Her contributions include several crayon masterpieces in the margins and the suggestion that we add “more cookies” to every goal.

My actual resolutions are pretty standard: run a 5K without dying, stop comparing myself to the Pinterest-perfect moms at daycare, maybe learn to make something other than mac and cheese for dinner.

Sophie’s resolution, as declared while standing on the kitchen counter in full tutu glory, is “take over the world.” I mean, she’s not wrong to aim high.

Marcus walked in during our planning session and I asked what his resolution was. His response: “Survive whatever you two are plotting.”

Smart man.

Between Elena’s running goals and Sophie’s world domination plans, 2013 is going to be interesting. At least someone in this house is being realistic about their expectations.
