The Artist Emerges
I walked into the living room this morning to find Sophie standing proudly next to her latest creation. Red and blue crayon on white wall - a masterpiece of toddler expression.

The Artist Emerges
My first instinct was pure mom rage. We’ve talked about paper versus walls. We’ve demonstrated proper crayon usage on appropriate surfaces. But then I actually looked at what she drew.
It’s a circle. With two angry dots for eyes and a downturned line for a mouth. It looks exactly like the face I made when I found crayon on my wall. My two-year-old daughter just perfectly captured my reaction before I even had it.
So now I’m torn between cleaning it off and framing it. She’s either showing early artistic talent or she’s a tiny troll who knows exactly what she’s doing. Knowing Sophie, it’s probably both.
