Watched this barista at The Grind yesterday create these perfect little hearts in people’s lattes like it was nothing. Made it look so easy that I convinced myself I could totally do that at home.

Turns out there’s a reason they get paid for this skill and I stick to drinking the coffee instead of decorating it. The milk steaming part went okay - I’ve got Jake’s fancy machine mostly figured out. But apparently there’s some kind of wrist technique involved in the pouring that no YouTube video adequately prepared me for.

Nailed it. Obviously.

The end result looks more like abstract art than a heart, but honestly? I’m calling it a win. It tastes exactly the same as my usual coffee, just with bonus entertainment value. Jake says it looks like a butterfly, which is either very sweet or very diplomatic of him.

Three more attempts scheduled for this weekend. By Monday I’ll either be a latte artist or we’ll be out of milk.
