The Legacy Continues
So Theo said his first real word yesterday. Not “mama” or “dada” like the baby books promised. Not even “hi” or “bye-bye” like normal children. No, our son’s inaugural contribution to human language was a very firm, very clear “NO.”

The Legacy Continues
Marcus immediately blamed me. “He learned that from you,” he said, like I’m the only parent in this house who has ever told a toddler they can’t eat goldfish crackers for breakfast. I pointed out that just this morning I heard Marcus tell Sophie no about seventeen different things before 9 AM. “That’s different,” he claimed. Sure it is.
The best part? Theo now says it with this little finger point, like he’s a tiny dictator issuing commands. Sophie thinks it’s hilarious and has been asking him yes-or-no questions all day just to hear him respond. “Theo, do you want juice?” NO. “Theo, do you like Biscuit?” NO. (This one’s clearly a lie.) “Theo, are you the cutest baby ever?” NO. At least he’s consistent.
I’m choosing to see this as a sign of strong character development. My son knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to express it. The fact that what he wants is apparently the opposite of everything we suggest is just… character building for all of us.
