Recipe rescue mission

👩‍⚕️ Elena ✨ P_alex-chen

Alex showed up this morning with three empty binders and the patience of a saint. “Let’s actually make sense of all those recipe cards,” he said, surveying the shoebox of Abuela Rosa’s handwritten treasures I’ve been meaning to organize for months.

Three hours in and we’ve got a system. Alex has this methodical way of sorting - he created categories I never would have thought of, like “everyday dinners” versus “celebration foods” versus “comfort cooking.” Meanwhile I’m trying to decipher Abuela’s shorthand and wondering how “a handful of this” translates to actual measurements.

The breakthrough came when Alex suggested we test-cook one recipe per category to understand her technique better. Suddenly we’re not just organizing cards - we’re planning a whole heritage cooking experiment. Jake’s already volunteered to be our taste tester, which honestly might be the most dangerous job in this apartment.

Sometimes the best help comes from people who see your chaos completely differently than you do. Alex turned my overwhelming family project into something actually manageable. Now I just need to convince him to help me tackle the closet next.
