Alex texted this morning asking if I could teach him “proper adult laundry skills” because apparently his mom is coming to visit next week and he’s tired of shoving his fitted sheets into a ball and calling it folded.

Turns out watching someone else struggle with fitted sheets is infinitely more entertaining than struggling with them yourself. He went through three different folding attempts before admitting he had no idea what he was doing. The concentrated focus on his face when I showed him the corner-tucking method was honestly adorable.

By the fourth try he was actually getting it, though he kept muttering something about “geometric impossibilities.” Jake walked in during the lesson and immediately backed out, claiming he didn’t want to learn because “some mysteries should stay mysterious.”

Alex left with a perfectly folded fitted sheet and approximately seventeen photos on his phone documenting each step of the process. His mom’s going to be so proud.
