Processing and planning
Just got off a two-hour phone call with my parents about the whole nursing thing.

Processing and planning
They’re still processing, but I can tell they’re trying to be supportive even though this isn’t what they pictured for me. Mom asked about twenty questions about job prospects and Dad wanted to know if I’d considered “all my options.” Translation: are you sure you don’t want to be a doctor?
The thing is, I am sure. More sure than I’ve been about anything in a long time. After watching that pediatric nurse at UNC Hospital, I know this is what I want to do. I want to be the person holding someone’s hand, not just diagnosing from across the room.

Planning mode: activated.
Spent the afternoon mapping out prerequisite courses I’ll need to take. Looks like I’ll be adding some chemistry and anatomy classes to my schedule, but I’m actually excited about it. Carmen’s been texting me study tips and telling me about her favorite professors. It’s nice having someone who gets it.
My parents will come around. They always do. And even if this path takes a little longer, at least I know I’m heading in the right direction now.
