Crisis management 101
Three weeks ago our heater decided to play favorites - blasting the bedroom while leaving the kitchen arctic. Last night we finally got confirmation from the landlord that it’s fixed, plus a credit for our electric bill from all those space heaters we had to buy.

Crisis management 101
What surprised me wasn’t the heating drama itself - stuff breaks, landlords drag their feet, winter in an old building is what it is. What surprised me was how smoothly Jake and I handled it together. No finger-pointing about who should call the landlord. No arguments about thermostat settings. We just… figured it out. Made a plan, divided up the tasks, followed through.
I keep thinking about that moment when we were both crammed into the utility closet with a flashlight, trying to figure out if the problem was obvious enough to fix ourselves. Jake holding the light steady while I read furnace troubleshooting steps off my phone. Neither of us knowing what we were doing, but doing it anyway.

Blog therapy session in progress.
Turns out we make a pretty decent team when the heat’s not working. Literally.
