Sitting here surrounded by confirmation emails, handwritten notes, and a detailed itinerary that would make my mom proud.

Our anniversary weekend is officially locked and loaded - mountain cabin, hiking trails mapped out, restaurant reservations made, even backup plans for rain.

What’s hitting me isn’t just that we pulled it off, but how we pulled it off. Jake handled all the research and logistics while I focused on the timeline and backup scenarios. No arguments about money, no passive-aggressive comments about whose turn it was to call places. We just… worked together. Like actual adults who’ve figured out how to be a team.

The planning aftermath - worth every minute.

The planning aftermath - worth every minute.

Two years ago I would’ve stressed myself into knots trying to control every detail or gotten frustrated when he didn’t do things exactly my way. Now I’m realizing that him being thorough with research and me being good at organizing timelines isn’t a conflict - it’s actually perfect.

Maybe this is what people mean when they talk about relationships getting easier. Not that there’s less work, but that you figure out how to work together instead of against each other.
